Psalm 34:1–9 (KJV)
“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.”— Psalm 34:1, 3 (KJV)
Psalm 34 is David’s declaration of a lifestyle of praise—not seasonal praise, not emotional praise, not convenient praise, but continual praise. This psalm reveals the heart of a worshiper who has discovered the supernatural power of praising God in every circumstance.
Praise is not merely a song we sing—It is a weapon, A shield, A statement of faith,
A launchpad for deliverance, And a pathway into the presence of God.
1. Praise Starts With a Decision — “I will bless the Lord at all times” - Psalm 34:1
David makes a volitional choice: “I will bless the Lord.”
This means:
Praise is not dependent on mood.
Praise is not situational.
Praise is not based on how we feel.
Praise flows from revelation, not emotion.
“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” — Psalm 34:1 (KJV)
Praise is an act of obedience, an act of surrender, and an act of spiritual warfare.
The Hebrew praise words show the various expressions of this obedience:
Yadah – lifting hands in surrender
Towdah – thanking God for what He has not yet done
Barak – kneeling in reverence
Halal – boasting loudly about God
Shabach – shouting with triumph
Zamar – praising with instruments
Tehillah – spontaneous songs birthed in the Spirit
Praise is not passive—it engages the whole being.
2. Praise Has a Sound — “His praise shall continually be in my mouth”
Praise must be expressed. It is not silent admiration—it is vocal, visible, and vibrant.
God never asked His people to praise timidly or privately. The Scriptures reveal:
David danced with all his might.
Israel shouted till Jericho’s walls fell.
Jehoshaphat’s singers led the army with praise.
Paul and Silas sang loudly at midnight.
Praise makes a sound that shakes the atmosphere.
3. Praise Shifts the Soul — “My soul shall make her boast in the Lord” - Psalm 34:2
Praise redirects the soul:
Away from fear
Away from worry
Away from self
Toward the greatness of God
When you boast in the Lord, you remind your soul:
Who God is
What God has done
What God has promised
No wonder “the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.” Praise strengthens not only you, but those around you.

4. Praise Invites Corporate Breakthrough — “Magnify the Lord with me” - Psalm 34:3
Praise was never meant to be isolated. Praise is a community weapon.
When believers exalt His name together:
Atmospheres change
Strongholds break
Faith rises
God’s presence manifests
No wonder Psalm 100:4 tells us to “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” Praise is the ticket into God’s presence.
5. Praise Brings Deliverance — “He delivered me from all my fears”
Psalm 34:4
David did not say he was delivered from circumstances first—He said: “He delivered me from all my fears.”
Praise:
Breaks fear
Calms anxiety
Restores courage
Awakens expectation
Philippians 4:6–7 teaches that praise brings a peace that guards hearts and minds.
6. Praise Removes Shame — “Their faces were not ashamed” - Psalm 34:5
Those who look to God in praise experience:
Radiance
Confidence
Joy
Freedom
Shame cannot coexist with praise. Praise restores identity, breaks condemnation, and covers believers with God’s glory.
7. Praise Brings Angelic Activity — “The angel of the Lord encampeth…” - Psalm 34:7
Praise invites Heaven to move.
In Scripture:
Angels shut lions’ mouths
Angels opened prison doors
Angels protected God’s people
Angels fought spiritual battles
Praise activates divine protection.
8. Praise Is an Invitation to Experience God — “O taste and see…” - Psalm 34:8
Praise is experiential. It is an invitation:
To taste God’s goodness
To see His faithfulness
To know His character
Praise pulls God’s reality into your situation.
9. Praise Eliminates Lack — “There is no want to them that fear Him” - Psalm 34:9
Fear of God + Praise to God = supernatural supply.
God meets the needs of:
Worshipers
Praisers
Those who honor Him
Praise positions you under divine provision.
10. The Power of Praise: What the Whole Bible Shows Us
Praise Invites God’s Presence
“God inhabits the praises of His people.” — Psalm 22:3
Praise Brings Victory
Jericho’s walls fell through praise (Joshua 6).
Jehoshaphat’s enemies destroyed themselves when Judah praised (2 Chronicles 20:22).

Praise Breaks Chains
Paul and Silas were freed by praise (Acts 16:25–26).
Praise Opens the Supernatural Realm
In the upper room, praise preceded the filling of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:1–4).
The glory of the Lord filled the temple when the priests praised (2 Chronicles 5:13–14).
"Praise" is a spiritual weapon that shifts battles from your hands into God’s hands.
Praise Confuses the Enemy
When you praise in crisis:
Fear loses power
Demons flee
Darkness breaks
The enemy becomes disoriented
11. The Highest Form of Praise: Obedience
While praise has many expressions, Scripture shows the highest form of praise is:
Obedience
“To obey is better than sacrifice.” — 1 Samuel 15:22
Surrender
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice.” — Romans 12:1
Radical devotion
“For me to live is Christ…” — Philippians 1:21
Jesus’ ultimate act of worship was obedience unto death (Philippians 2:8).
Praise is powerful—but obedience is the purest praise.
Conclusion: Make Praise Your Lifestyle
Praise is more than music—
It is a mindset, A weapon, A testimony, A sacrifice, A choice, And a lifestyle.
Psalm 34:1–9 teaches us that praise:
Delivers
Protects
Provides
Strengthens
Transforms
And most of all—Praise glorifies God and releases Heaven into our lives.
So today, like David—Choose praise. Live praise. Fight with praise. Worship through praise.
“I will bless the Lord at all times.”
Do you desire prayer?
Do you desire salvation?
If you want to know Christ—and be known by Him—today is the day.

“3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. - John 3:3-5
